In this piece I aimed to recreate certain aspects of the finance systems involved in my job. I used the circle arc segments to represent subsets of billing transactions as they are processed in a contained flow through the system. I like to think of these transactions as “trains” because of the manner they travel through a sequence of documentations, verifications, and approvals before being fully completed. What do you notice about this vein of transaction trains?
Movement is always something I strive to capture in my pieces: for example, the directional flow of transaction trains in this piece. Although there is inherent movement in a flow of vectors, I enjoy of the ultimate stillness of this piece because it displays a possibility of examining a single transaction train at any point in its life cycle. Tracing singular transactions through finance systems is how I spot and solve errors in my job. I do this with the goal of keeping the system, as a whole, running smoothly and efficiently. What systems are involved in your life and what action do you take to keep them moving?
